The Finance Professional 3 is a member of the Clinical Neuroscience Administrative Center's (CNC) finance team supporting the departments of Neurology, Neurosurgery, Rehabilitation Medicine and Psychiatry, as assigned. This position will be a member of the sponsored accountant team (6 team members) within the CNC under the supervision of the Finance Manager. The person we are looking for works well on a team, has a positive attitude, is task oriented, and has strong time management skills.
Duties and Responsibilities of the Finance Professional 3 position include but are not limited to: 50% - Partner with PI's over the life of a grant; performing research accounting support and analysis (including both pre- and post- award activities). 20% - Monitor spending and approve expenditures for both sponsored and non-sponsored accounts. Certified approver for department expenditures. 10% - Provide financial, accounting and analytical expertise in the research and non-sponsored aspects for the Department of Psychiatry.
Additional Essential functions that account for less than 10% of time: 5% - Assist in the preparation of annual budgets according to established guidelines 5% - Effort coordinator for assigned accounts 5% - Represent Center and department on various committees to share expertise, aid in decision making and communicate information back to department and Center staff 5% - Special assignments and projects as assigned by the Finance Manager or Center Finance Director

All required qualifications must be documented on application materials.
BA/BS with major in accounting, finance or business administration plus at least four years of accounting/ administrative experience, or related education and experience to total eight years.
Proficiency with relevant computer programs including Word, Excel and PowerPoint software.
Previous experience as a grant accountant.
Experience as a certified approver for department expenditures.
Previous relevant experience in a clinical academic setting.
Strong technical, problem solving and process improvement skills.
