Finance Professional 4 (8223P4), Clinical Neuroscience Administrative Center Working Title: Non-sponsored Accounting Lead Percent Time:100% Work Schedule/Hours:Monday - Friday, 8:00am - 4:30pm
Overview: The Finance Professional 4 is a member of the Clinical Neuroscience Administrative Center's finance team supporting the departments of Neurology, Neurosurgery, Rehabilitation Medicine, and Psychiatry, as assigned. This position will manage the non-sponsored accounting for the center and lead the work of two Finance Professional 3 team members who work on the non-sponsored accounting. This position will indirectly coordinate with the sponsored accountant team (6 team members) within the CNC and partner with the Finance Manager. The position will coordinate the daily activities of their financial support team, set priorities to ensure task completion and coordinate work activities with the Finance Manager and Finance Director. Under general supervision from the Finance Manager, this position will work independently and make decisions for the areas they are accountable for and is expected to be a strategic thinker and problem solver. The person we are looking for works well on a team, has a positive attitude, is task oriented, and has strong time management skills.
The Finance Professional 4 Lead will be the subject matter expert to provide financial, accounting, and analytical expertise in the clinical, research and non-sponsored aspects of the position's assigned department(s). This position will:
Manage the general budgeting process and the preparation of the annual non-sponsored accounting budgets.
Manage and provide financial support for the life of non-sponsored grant contracts for the center.
Provide oversight, monitor spending and approve expenditures for their area.
Report and analyze monthly financial results including performing forecasts, projections and trend analysis, and highlight issues and areas of opportunity for the non-sponsored team.
Own the process design and best practice improvement activities for the non-sponsored and sponsored accounting for the center, to advance process effectiveness and improve service and efficiency within the CNC.
Benchmark results against relevant academic medical practices.
Partner with the Finance Director and Finance Manager to identify and implement administrative cost reduction opportunities and strategies within the CNC.
Develop and execute queries and special reports.
Analyze all academic business activities of an assigned unit and advise unit leadership on business strategies.
Assist other non-sponsored accountants with work, as needed.
Prepare financial forecasts and pro-formas.
Prepare and present executive summary reporting for the Department Heads or CFO.
Serve as a certified approver for department expenditures.
Conduct special assignments and projects assigned by the Finance Manager or Center Finance Director.

All required qualifications must be documented on application materials.
BA / BS with major in accounting, finance or business admin, at least five years of experience; or a combination of related education and work experience to equal nine years;
Advanced Proficiency with Microsoft Office;
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to prioritize and work with a variety of stakeholders, including faculty and department heads;
Experience working with databases, including ability to extract and manipulate data to support critical analysis and decision making;
Experience with data analysis, including the ability to gather, organize and present data in a meaningful way.
5 years accounting and financial statement preparation and reporting experience;
Experience working in a higher education institution;
Current or past non-sponsored accounting work in a higher education setting;
Experience creating process improvements.
