Advertised Summary Job Description: Reporting to the Associate Treasurer, Global Treasury Operations, the Associate Director, International Finance and Treasury is responsible for the management and oversight of international bank accounts and controls requiring complex and cross-functional coordination. The position is part of the university's Global Support team and has accountability to the Vice President, Financial Operations and Compliance for identified projects within the Finance Division and to the International Administrative Working Group (IAWG), which supports faculty, staff and students who travel, and/or work outside the United States.
Work in conjunction with the Office of the Treasurer, Office of General Counsel, Controllers, Tax, NY and local based programs to evaluate and ensure appropriate global banking relationships/services/payment functions and related controls and procedures are in place to support the needs of the local entity oCoordinate international banking needs including opening, closing, and updating of international bank accounts oReview and complete local bank account compliance requirements oEnsure accounts are set up with the appropriate functionality, security and control, signers, and online user access, and related regulatory reporting is completed, including annual FBAR oEvaluate FX currency exposure and determine appropriate strategies, including transactional hedging to provide certainty of cashflows and help protect the business against the risk of currency fluctuations, and ensure appropriate accounting for foreign currency gain/loss oMaintain account details in Treasury Management System
Collaborate extensively across all central administrative functions and programs both in NY and overseas to effectively communicate and facilitate the development of policies, procedures and other user support tools for staff involved in global activity. oEnsure related university policies, procedures and tools are implemented and adopted by programs and staff working on global activities at the University, through a range of training and communication efforts. oEstablish a post-implementation review and compliance process for all international entities.
Keep globalsupport website content fresh and updated; act as webmaster; and coordinate content with other global CU organizations http://finance.columbia.edu/departments/global-support. oProvide training, through various means (on-site, web-based, knowledge sharing sessions, as well as less structured sessions oBenchmark training and content with other globally active universities oParticipates in industry forums
Potential for international travel depending on initiatives in process.

General Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor's degree required with a minimum of five (5) years of related experience in a financial operations or compliance environment with exposure to international operations such as accounting, audit, or treasury required.
Additional Specific Minimum Qualifications: Proficiency in Microsoft Office required, with a particular need for strong PowerPoint skills for presentation purposes. Excellent organizational, facilitation, interpersonal, oral and written communication skills, including active listening skills, plus the ability to work closely and effectively with a diverse group of University administrators, including senior financial staff, characterized by strong consensus building and relationship building skills, essential. Must be able to negotiate issues, resolve problems and have strong influencing skills. Must have a passion for excellent customer service and a commitment to exceptional quality.
Preferred Qualifications: Advanced degree desirable. Project management skills and experience preferred. International experience with a high-level understanding of US and foreign transaction processing, cash management or banking products desired. Prior experience with specific regional expertise and / or not for profit industry knowledge in an international setting organization desired. CTP certification, along with experience in an institution of higher education or other large, complex organization is desired.
