The Opportunity Insights Institute studies economic mobility through lenses such as education, neighborhood environments, and health to understand the drivers of economic opportunity in the country and give local policy-makers customized data and insights to help them craft effective policy solutions.
We are now seeking an Administrative Director to oversee all aspects of human resources, financial management, and grants compliance for Opportunity Insights. within the Department of Economics The AD will manage the Institute's administrative and financial operations, including collaborative efforts such as partnerships with the Department of Economics and other external constituents.
Human Resources and Administration: Manages appointment administration, payroll, and related services for faculty and staff; manages visa applications; special projects as assigned.
Manages hiring for the institute's team of researchers and staff, including visiting scholars, appointments and any visa-related issues.
Helps ensure compliance with affirmative action and search policies and procedures.
Advises the Executive Director in the creation, coordination, and implementation of new policies and procedures.
Responsible for directory-related updates for appointees and internal communication about arrivals and departures to other FAS and Econ offices.
Creates and maintains reports and metrics on team human resource developments, and other ad hoc reports.
Assumes primary responsibility for all non-accounting administrative systems.
The AD organizes and implements administrative systems and procedures, researches and modifies internal policies as needed to make the department more efficient and informs leadership about items requiring attention.
Manages the administrative support services and supervises the Finance Associate.
Assists in the design and provision of training and onboarding of newstaff.
Coordinates directly with Economics ADA and MFS on matters involving any on-site faculty assistants; and develops, documents and shares best practices associated with the roles involved with supporting unit faculty.
Handles highly confidential information with discretion
Manages all accounts, ledgers, and reporting systems to ensure compliance with university standards, maintaining internal control safeguards.
Oversees budgeting and implementation of budgets, to monitor progress and present financial metrics internally and externally.
Managers cash flow and forecasting for the project.
Coordinates any audit activities.
Responsible for reimbursements and works closely with FAS and Financial Offices on financial issues including move reimbursements, housing supplements, etc.
Works closely with the Finance Associate to provide high-level coordination across all administrative functions of the institute, including supporting a robust array of policy-maker and funder outreach.Monitors and reconciles staff payrolls.
Manages institutional grant processes including assisting the PIs in navigating IRB processes, creating compliance reports, as necessary.
Manages existing grants by developing internal reporting systems, writing reports, maintaining historical records, working with leadership to ensure proposal conditions are met, and serving as primary interface with university counsel, when necessary.
Reviews grant proposal and identifies and resolves compliance issues related to university and sponsor requirements. Interprets pre- and post-award university and sponsor guidelines to faculty and staff.
Supports grant-writing, with Strategic Communications.
This is a term position through June 30, 2021 with strong likelihood for renewal.

Bachelor's degree or minimum of 7 years administrative or financial experience in an academic, non-profit or research environment.
