The Vice Chancellor is a member of the senior management team of the university and works with the Chancellor and other Vice Chancellors, as well as the Deans, to determine the university’s strategic direction.
Performs executive administrative work in planning, developing, organizing, directing and evaluating programs, policies, procedures and guidelines. Provides overall leadership, direction and control in athletics, bursar operations, campus safety, facilities operations, capital planning and implementation, financial management, budget planning, audit and financial reporting, accounts payable and receivable, food service and catering, and human resources. Prepares analysis of complex resource issues, and compiles data and prepares reports required by campus managers for academic and budgetary planning. Responsible for allocating and reallocating funds and resources, etc.
Implements policies and procedures relating to overall mission of the university, and provides budget recommendations to respond to a wide range of issues. Exercises sound judgment in determining the means, methods and resources necessary to achieve goals and objectives. Serves as liaison with various boards, system wide university offices, legislature, etc. Oversees budget construction, recommending approval for salary plan adjustments for faculty and staff and recommending budget proposals for related programs. Delivers support and direction in the development of the campus's direction, strategic planning and business development. Ensures that the campus's strategy is regularly reviewed and effectively implemented, and that it is underpinned by robust operating plans across facilities and departments.
REQUIRED:Bachelor’s degree and seven years of progressively complex and relevant leadership experience in higher education or an organization of comparable complexity.
Possess a valid driver's license with the ability to be insured by Indiana University.
Excellent writing skills as well as superb interpersonal and verbal communication skills; a master at presenting information, ideas, and results. Skilled at building and maintaining relationships within all levels of an organization as well as externally with visitors, professional societies and potential donors. Extensive knowledge of generally accepted government accounting and budgeting methods and practices. Ability to formulate and articulate sound policies and demonstrated ability to identify, resolve, and consult on a wide range of administrative and personnel issues with a clear sense of institutional needs and priorities. Ability to prepare complex financial reports, budgets, presentation materials, records, correspondence, etc., with confidentiality, accuracy and extreme attention to detail. Ability to read, analyze, understand and apply complex legal, financial and/or technical records, reports, ordinances, policies, etc. Ability to work under considerable stress as a result of tight deadlines, balancing multiple projects, performing duties under public scrutiny, etc.
Master's degree in higher education administration, business administration, public administration, organizational development, student personnel services or a related field; professional accounting qualifications such as CPA, ACCA, and membership of relevant recognized professional body.
Working Conditions/Physical Demands:
General office equipment will be utilized as well as the regular use of a motor vehicle.
Ability to participate in evening and weekend commitments as necessary.
