Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey is seeking a Director of Finance for the department of Finance within the School of Health Professions. The Director of Finance is directly responsible for all budgetary and financial aspects of the school, as they relate to financial reporting, budgeting, auditing, compliance and daily operations of SHP and the Office of Finance. The Director of Finance acts as the liaison between the SHP Dean and Senior Leadership, and the RBHS Vice Chancellor for Finance and Administration's Office. Is responsible for assuring the accurate billing of all revenue including tuition, clinical practice, and contracts. Properly manages all operating expenditures, while operating within the constraints of the University budget.
Responsible for the planning and scheduling of the work of the Finance personnel to ensure maximum effective utilization of employees, equipment and material within budgetary constraints; oversees the daily activities of SHP Finance Department.
Provides oversight of the School’s financial activities for unrestricted and restricted funds, including the operating budget, faculty practice, and continuing education budgets. The Finance Office, under the direction of the Director for Finance, assures that funds are used in accordance with the University, RBHS and the School’s policies and procedures.
Responsible for the development and completion of monthly and year-end financial statements, as well as any other necessary reports/requests, as directed by senior management.
Directs the Finance staff in the development, review and execution of the annual budget process. Under the direction of the Director for Finance, the Office of Finance works with the Department Chairs to assure that Department budget submissions reflect revenues and expenses accurately.
Works with the school's senior leadership to prioritize competing budget requests to maximize the School’s available resources, while aligning with the requirements of Central Administration.
Advises and makes recommendations to the Dean regarding the School's short and long term financial planning. Strategizes and proposes ways to increase the School's revenue stream, while minimizing expenditures.
Manages the Finance staff, to ensure timely submission of the bi-annual Faculty Time & Effort reporting process online.
Represents the School on issues relating to the implementation, training and utilization of Oracle, PeopleSoft, and any newly implemented financial system. Provides the necessary updates and communications to the Dean and to the School, in regard to system updates/changes.
Supervises and recommends the hiring, firing, promoting, demoting, transfers and disciplinary action of Finance personnel. Evaluates and performs appraisals for the Office of Finance staff.
Minimum Education and Experience:
Master's Degree in Business Administration, Finance or a related field,with a minimum of seven (7) years of experience in financial and budget activities, including three (3) years in management capacity.
Equivalent education, experience and/or training may be substituted for the degree requirements.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Long range financial planning and strong computer technical skills.
Excellent oral and written communication skills and superb analytical skills are necessary
Outstanding human relations, leadership skills, and the ability to function in a team environment.
Experience in academic and health care finance.
Salary: maximum salary: $135,000.00
