Lincoln Academy, an historic Town Academy serving the Newcastle/Damariscotta region of mid-Coast Maine since 1801 is seeking a Director of Finance.
The Director of Finance shares responsibility with the Head of School for ensuring that Lincoln Academy’s financial resources and physical assets are managed in such a way as to provide for the long-term sustainability of the school. Maintaining accurate, timely, thorough, and concise information about the school’s finances, s/he not only makes this information available to the head of school, administrative team, and board in a format that is useful and clear, but also anticipates needs and takes initiative in involving other school leaders in identifying problems and solutions. In this way, the Director of Finance supports the work of critical board committees and functions within the school and plays a central role in decision-making.
Job qualifications include a minimum of a Bachelor’s degree and three years experience as a Business Manager, CFO, or in another similar role; experience in a 501c3, non-profit organization; a minimum of five years successful supervisory experience; knowledge of best practices in accounting, supervision, legal and regulatory requirements, and risk management; the ability to communicate clearly and professionally with colleagues, board members, faculty, staff, students, parents, and the public; and respect for all members of the community regardless of class, race, gender, age, or position.

Lincoln Academy has been educating students in the Midcoast region of Maine since 1801. The majority of our 585 students are day students from Newcastle and 19 other towns in the surrounding area. Our boarding program includes 90 students from 19 countries as well as other parts of the U.S.
