This position reports to the Vice Chancellor of Administration and Finance and will assist in leading the strategic financial management in support of the university's vision, strategic and academic missions. Specific areas of financial oversight include development of the long-term financial plan for UMKC and for all associated processes and tools. Additionally work will include handling accounting and compliance matters, along with process improvement initiatives. It is expected that the individual in this position will work closely with the Director of Finance and Planning and the Finance Business partners in the colleges, schools and divisions.This individual will also work collaboratively with senior administration on campus and the UM System.
A Bachelor's degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience and at least 7 years of experience from which comparable knowledge and skills can be acquired is necessary
Master's degree with a major emphasis in finance or accounting
At least seven to ten years of progressively responsible administrative and financial management experience, and demonstrated excellent business judgment
Possession of an appropriate professional certification (e.g. CPA) is preferred
Must be familiar with generally accepted accounting principles and FASB standards
Exceptional interpersonal relations capabilities, effective communication skills, and the ability to work effectively with a wide range of diverse groups and constituents are all required
