The Finance and Administration Manager in the Department of Physical Therapy, Movement & Rehabilitation Sciences has areas of responsibility in budget management and forecasting and department administration. The position provides fiscal forecasting for determination and allocation of resources within the department. S/he will develop controls for financial functions in adherence to established NU/College policies. S/he must be able to communicate professionally and effectively on behalf of the Chair, requiring leadership; problem-solving skills; and the ability to make independent judgments regarding financial and budgetary activities. Provides oversight of department transactions and related processes; prepares reports and analysis of revenue and expense activity at the request of the department heads. S/he will track and monitor department contracts; maintain records for transactions and generate department and grant spreadsheets including projections of personnel and non-personnel expenses. The manager will indirectly supervise department office staff and assist them with daily financial transactional activities related to budget, equipment/supplies procurement and part-time faculty contracts. S/he will advise faculty and department/research staff on budget procedures, college policies and procedures, training on purchasing, Concur, E-print reports and Banner; advise on funds available. This position interacts routinely with the College Dean's Office and other key offices at the University.
Bachelors Degree in Business Administration or a related field and 3-4 years of financial and operations management required to include supervisory experience, preferably in a research active academic setting. Budgeting and quantitative analytical experience required. Outstanding organizational skills, demonstrated computer literacy [Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint, Outlook], and a willingness to learn new approaches/programs. Ability to manage multiple tasks at once, work independently and handle confidential information. Experience with budget review, forecasting and monitoring, as well as, experience with program evaluation or quality improvement/organizational improvement. Experience with grants and contract management, post-award grant management experience preferred including experience with Research Faculty working on grants and contracts. Demonstrated experience with compliance issues and ability to quickly learn research compliance issues & of key federal grant regulations and other compliance issues and NU/College policies/regulations. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Ability to work well with faculty, staff and students. Strong customer service skills required.
