This position is a key member of VUMCs Financial Training team responsible for the delivery and maintenance of institutional financial training programs for VUMC business processes, systems and financial reporting, with a focus on charge review and reconciliation. This position will provide training and instructional design support for VUMC's new and existing Financial Training curricula.
Financial training will be delivered in online and in classroom and clinical settings. Candidates will provide on-going training support for departments and staff, including one-on-one training sessions as needed. In addition to classroom instruction, training materials development and review as well as maintenance is required for all courses, including online modules. This position is also responsible for working with the department's Program Coordinator to produce communications, scheduling, and programs which meet the needs of the VUMC Finance and other VUMC departments. Additionally, on-going assessment of the effectiveness of training methods and programs is required.
Maintains Financial Curricula ensuring business processes, policies, financial reporting and system content is current with ongoing best practices at VUMC, particularly those related to charge review and reconciliation
Use a comprehensive understanding of academic and healthcare accounting in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles, appropriate regulations, and policies and procedures in the delivery of training programs. Keep abreast of policy, procedural and system changes, and update curriculum and training strategy accordingly.
Consults with customers to determine appropriate solutions for business need
Conducts needs analysis to determine performance/engagement objectives
Uses information obtained in analysis to create program or solution that meets the need of customer.
Implements solution or program based on appropriate design
Reviews, evaluates and reports program or solution effectiveness.
May provide direction to those in supportive roles within the department.

Accounting & Compliance: Knowledge of academic and healthcare accounting in accordance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP),as well as Federal, NIH and institutional regulations, policies and procedures as they pertain to sponsored research.
Training Needs Analysis: A process of collecting information about a proposed learning program. A needs analysis addresses the following issues: restating the request, stating the business need, identifying the performance gap, conducting a task analysis, describing the learners, describing the learning environment, and identifying the project constraints.
Adult Learning Theory: Knowledge of the principles and practices of providing instruction to the adult learner. Able to focus adult learning goals and the ability to direct their own learning.
Instructional Design: The systematic development of specifications using learning and instructional theory to ensure the quality of instruction.
Candidates for this position: Should have excellent presentation and communication skills, experience with PowerPoint, Captivate, Business Objects, and/or Hyperion (preferred). An MBA/CPA is also preferred.
