The Director for Finance is responsible for the leadership and management of all accounting and finance functions within the College's Finance department, as well as the operations for the College Store and Dining Services auxiliary enterprises.
Duties include, but are not limited to managing all accounting, budget, and financial reporting for the College and the HCC Foundation; managing the operating budget cycle; maintaining and improving business processes within the College's ERP (Ellucian Banner); establishing relationships with vendors, evaluating emerging technologies; focusing on the student experience related to the financial services of the College; and staying current with state and federal laws and regulations to ensure College compliance. Other responsibilities include documenting and reinforcing internal controls; preparing fiscal year and year-end financial statements; and performing other duties as assigned by the supervisor.
This is an exempt, administrator position reporting to the Associate Vice President for Finance and Operations.
An MBA or related master's degree and a minimum of seven years of experience are required. CPA certification is preferred. Equivalent education, technical training, or experience may be considered. Applicants will be evaluated on criteria including, but not limited to:
experience in managing external audit engagements and developing and maintaining internal controls to minimize risk
experience in budget development, including analyzing budget proposals, utilizing projections and modeling to determine availability of funds
experience providing strategic-level oversight of a finance/accounting group, to include goal setting at the organizational level
experience implementing, maintaining, and upgrading account information systems using report tools (Banner preferred)
experience working across departments to develop and implement initiatives and projects across an organization
experience in preparing year-end financial statements (GASB preferred) and preparing and presenting other financial reporting to senior management and a Board
knowledge of and experience in implementing new accounting standards and pronouncements
knowledge of tax law and regulatory requirements in higher education
