This position works in the College of Food, Agricultural and Natural Resource Sciences (CFANS) Office of Finance and Budget. This position will provide financial oversight for the Department of Applied Economics (ApEc), the Center for Farm Financial Management (CFFM) and the Agricultural Education Division (AgEd), as well as some grant support to certain research and outreach centers. Responsibilities will also include analysis of CFANS current financial processes and business practices; creation of streamlined operations within and across finance teams; advise on integration of best practices. This position is responsible for performing complex professional accounting and finance work, requiring the application of general accounting principles and University policies while maintaining the integrity of the accounting system and the chart of accounts.
Nature of Appointment: 100% time, 12-month continuing civil service position.
Major Areas of Accountability:
Financial Management and Analysis 55%
? Analyze current financial processes and business practices college-wide and creation of streamlined operations across finance teams and Outreach centers. Advise on integration of best practice development for finance processes across finance teams.
? Financial management of ApEc, CFFM and AgEd
? Backup for document processing including salary redistributions, distribution changes, combo code set-ups, journal entries, budget journals and budget preparation.
Grants Management Activities 35%
? Financial reporting and award closeout for the division of Food Science and Nutrition/Animal Science (FANS) and APEC, CFFM and Ag Ed
? Serve as Certified Approver for APEC, and three Research and Outreach Centers (ROC).
? Serve as Effort Coordinator for APEC, FANS, and two ROCs.
? Provide backup for APEC/FANS preaward, assisting Faculty and P & A staff on grant proposals, budget development, PRF preparation/approval and routing for sponsored projects.
• Full PELRA supervisory responsibilities for three Bargaining Unit finance staff
• Continue professional development through attendance of courses, workshops, seminars, and other meetings.
• Serve on committees representing collegiate budget and finance unit.
• Demonstrate ethical behavior in the conduct of all position responsibilities.
• Provide backup for other Divisions as needed due to prolonged absences or departures at the FP level.
