About the Team: William Blair is seeking an experienced Investment Banking Vice President (1st or 2nd year VP-level commensurate with experience) to join the Leveraged Finance Group, which is a fast growing team that arranges all manner of leveraged loans and high yield bonds for middle market companies that fund LBOs, recapitalizations and refinancings. The Leveraged Finance Group works closely with each of William Blair's industry sector teams as well as our Financial Sponsor Group in serving the financing needs of the firm's investment banking clients. The Vice President will be based in either the firm's Chicago headquarters or New York office.
Job Summary & Responsibilities: Our focus on the middle-market and the extensive range of leveraged financings we arrange afford Vice Presidents the unique opportunity to develop a comprehensive understanding of and expertise in all manner of leveraged financing structures including 1st and 2nd lien debt, mezzanine financing, unitranche loans and high yield bonds. In addition, Vice Presidents work directly with senior-level client executives and top-level bankers in small deal team settings. Vice Presidents assume a critical role in the entire transaction process, including the initial pitch, and leading due diligence, transaction execution including meeting with potential lenders/investors, and closing the financing.

Five to seven years of experience in leveraged lending and/or high yield financing
MBA from top-tiered business school preferred, bachelor degree required
Thorough knowledge of the leveraged finance industry including terminology, structures, and market participants. Candidates with prior exposure to the high yield market are preferred.
Outstanding leadership skills; track record of success and high performance
Delivers clear, effective oral and written communication
Strong financial modeling skills required. Ability to build detailed, fully-integrated financial models and financial projections and analyze the impact of proposed transaction options on the capital structure, cash flows, debt service requirements, compliance with financial covenants and differences in GAAP versus tax treatments, etc.
Experience analyzing financial statements and related data to assess historical financial performance and future outlook for client companies and prospects
Series 79 and 63 licenses required within 90 days of hire
Committed to satisfying internal and external customers
Ability to manage expectations of senior bankers, other deal team members and clients while working on multiple projects simultaneously
Excellent mathematical, writing, verbal and computer skills
