Due to significant enrollment growth, the Department of Finance, Accounting and Enterprise Information Systems (FAEIS) at the Davies College of Business of the University of Houston-Downtown is seeking applicants for tenure track positions in Finance to begin fall 2017. Applicants with significant university teaching and publication records may be considered for appointment at the rank of Associate Professor.
The FAEIS Department includes the following majors: Finance, Accounting, Management Information Systems and International Business. The FAEIS Department is housed in the Davies College of Business, which is accredited by AACSB and enrolls approximately 2,300 undergraduate and over 1,100 graduate students. The College's new MBA program has received significant interest from the business community, and has achieved incredible growth. As a result, the college needs additional faculty to support its concentration in Finance.
The candidate is expected to teach undergraduate and graduate Finance courses. These courses may be offered day, evenings, and weekends as needed to serve the students in face-to-face, online, hybrid formats, and at other campuses.
In this position, the faculty member will help the Dean of the Davies College of Business engage and interact with managers in the Houston business community to ensure resulting Finance course competencies parallel industry needs. A successful candidate will be expected to further work with industry to facilitate placement of Davies College of Business graduates.
The successful candidate for the Assistant Professor position will teach undergraduate and graduate courses in Finance, have a demonstrated potential for and commitment to high quality academic research and instructional excellence, initiate and collaborate or external grant writing, supervise student research, and do committee work.
- PhD, advanced ABD or a DBA in Finance, or closely related field from an accredited business school.
- A terminal degree from an AACSB accredited school
- Prior professional work experience in finance or demonstrated equivalence
- All areas in finance will be considered, with special consideration given to international finance
