Open Heart Magic has grown to reach over 11,000 kids this past year at ten Chicago children’s hospitals and two new out of state programs at the University of Michigan Mott Children’s Hospital in Michigan and the Cleveland Clinic in Ohio.
Along with this growth comes the need to bring on additional professionals to the Board of Directors to help with the hands-on financial processes to manage nonprofit finances and help direct overall financial strategy to plan sustainable program expansion to even more kids.
In addition to Open Heart Magic Board of Directors requirements, this role will be involved in the following activities:
Finance Committee Members assists with annual processes including:
Monitoring key metrics
Review of audit results and tax returns
Finance Committee Member responsibilities can include:
Help with preparation and review of monthly financial reports and presentation of results or key ratios in Board meetings (with Treasurer)
Make suggestions to improve financial reporting processes
Ensuring that all activities follow established internal control and compliance processes
Coach and mentor Professional Board participants on the Finance Committee (scheduled for 2018)
Candidates for this role should have a background in finance or accounting and an interest in financial reporting for the organization.
30 minutes every other month for Finance Committee calls
Attendance at all regular Board meetings
Time as required to assist with annual processes; usually heaviest during the 1st quarter of the calendar year
Time as required to coach and mentor Professional Board Finance Committee members (scheduled for 2018)
