Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey, is seeking a Director of Finance and Administration for the Office of Research and Economic Development (ORED). The core purpose of the Office of Research and Economic Development is to advance Rutgers preeminence in research and spur economic growth. As part of ORED, this position will work with the Office of Research Commercialization to provide operational management. Responsible for all financial operations including leading monthly close, forecasting and annual budget, compliance with ORC agreement terms, procure to pay cycle, and grants/contracts business operations. Among the key duties of this position are the following:
Directs monthly close including journal entry review and approval, calculating and booking accruals, design of reporting templates and processes, variance analysis, forecasting, distribution of intellectual property revenues according to appropriate policy, and communication of financial results.
Strategizes and manages ORC budget process for each fiscal year according to Rutgers University requirements.
Works with ORC leaders to define financial requirements for upcoming fiscal year. Design budget templates and lead template population.
Manages input of approved budget into Hyperion database.
Leads procure to pay processes including approval of all ORC requisitions, negotiation of agreements as necessary, and approval of invoices being paid.
Manages administration of grants and contracts for ORC.
Oversees other business/operational issues as required for ORC including human resources, IT, etc.
Home Location Campus: Off Campus
Master's in Business Administration, with a finance focus.
Three (3) years of related technology transfer experience.
Knowledge of business principles, complex financial transactions, as well as regulations and laws that relate to the commercialization of technologies.
Ability to interpret and enforce obligations contained in IP related agreements.

Excellent communication skills.
Outstanding human relations and leadership skills, and the ability to function in a team environment.
Knowledge of computer based systems and programs including Microsoft Office products.
Requires close interaction and leadership of the dynamic financial and operational needs of the Rutgers Translational Sciences group.
Fluency and flexibility in managing finances for a large and diverse operation, including complex distribution of funds to inventors and schools, as well as the evolving Rutgers Translational Sciences businesses.
