The Director, Finance and Operations is to perform a variety of duties focused on the operational and financial functions of Cure SMA, with the ability to think strategically and plan for the long-term success and stability of the organization. The Director oversees the infrastructure, systems, and processes needed to increase the impact of the organization. The position is responsible for the internal oversight of five key functions of the organization: finance, information technology, human resources, facilities, and office management. The Director will act as a liaison to the Board of Directors' Finance Committee to continually evaluate best industry practices for internal systems and needed resources, with an eye toward future growth needs, risk management and budget realities.
Principal Job Duties and Responsibilities:
Ensures timely and accurate preparation of monthly/quarterly/ annual financial reports and metrics, for the purpose of management and oversight by the President and Program Director
Assists Board members in interpreting financial data, and attends meetings of the Finance Committee and the Board of Directors, as required
Develops and manages the budget for all programs, review operating costs, and suggests cost saving measures in conjunction with President and other management staff; Prepares a budget for review and approval by the Board of Directors
Oversees the conduct of the annual audit, and assist in the preparation of tax schedules
Provides fiscal analyses and reports for the purpose of contract monitoring, forecasting, and cash flow management
Supervises all internal accounting and administrative staff, and has primary responsibility for all external operational vendors and professional service providers
Develops, maintains, and oversees all internal controls and policies
Works to continuously improve HR systems and processes so they are consistent with the highest professional standards
Manages employee files and all employee benefits
Monitors insurance coverage and ensures personnel policies are up-to-date and up-to standards
Ensures compliance with related human resources policies
Oversees support for the organization’s information technology so that it effectively supports programs and the administration
Implements database and tracking systems for membership, development and medical programs of the organization
Facilities and Office Management:
Manages the maintenance and upkeep of the facilities and physical infrastructure of the organization, including the warehouse area
Oversees and manages kitchen, bathroom, and office supplies and arrangements for use of conference rooms
General Job Duties and Responsibilities:
Assists in the preparation of the Annual Report
Manages and develops Accounting staff, including identifying individual and team performance goals, measuring performance, providing performance feedback, and conducting performance reviews
Recruits and cultivates Accounting staff and volunteer support as needed
Participates in required educational programs and meetings
Performs other responsibilities as assigned by the President.
Minimum Education: Bachelor’s degree required in accounting, finance, administration, or related field; Master’s degree in related field or CPA preferred
Job Experience: At least 10 years relevant experience; At least 5 years in a supervisory position building, managing and coaching a team; Experience working with Board of Directors and non-profit operations preferred.
