The Assistant Professor is a member of the ranked faculty with an intermediate academic rank who has demonstrated achievement in the areas of teaching, research, and professional service appropriate to the discipline. The Assistant Professor’s teaching responsibilities are assigned by the academic department head and may include serving as an academic advisor. The Assistant Professor engages in scholarly activities beyond those associated with teaching and is expected to demonstrate professional productivity in research, based upon the availability of resources and consistent with the mission of the University.
Description of Primary Duties:
The Missouri State University Department of Finance and General Business anticipates an August 2017 opening for a tenure-track Assistant Professor in Finance. Candidates must have an earned doctorate (Ph.D. or DBA) in Finance from an AACSB International accredited institution (ABDs with anticipated completion by August 2017 may be considered), a demonstrated record of teaching excellence in finance at the university level, a demonstrated scholarly record, and a commitment to work with diverse student and community populations. Duties include teaching undergraduate and graduate courses in finance (primarily investments and financial management) delivered via traditional classroom and/or online; pursuing finance-related research leading to publication in refereed journals and paper presentations at professional meetings; and providing service to Missouri State University, the profession, and the community.

Minimum Acceptable Qualifications:
The minimum acceptable qualifications for the position of Assistant Professor are prescribed in the Faculty Handbook. The ability to develop knowledge of, respect for, and skills to engage with those of other cultures or backgrounds is required.
