The purpose of this position is to direct and implement the academic activities of the Registrar's office at the School of Public Health. This includes supervising the maintenance of over 1000 active student records, providing guidance to faculty, students and staff regarding registration and academic policies and procedures, University regulations and student information systems.
The Registrar maintains proactive systems to monitor student course enrollments, produces statistical reports, and creates and enters class and semester academic and room schedules.
Develop plans, in collaboration with program directors and department staff, to offer programs and courses consistent with the educational mission of the school.
Creating, refine, and produce the academic calendar and course schedule each semester. Negotiate placement of courses in the semester schedule, including room scheduling and seat reservations.
Manage enrollment into classes, including wait list process.
Provide assistance to faculty, students, and staff by responding to inquiries regarding business and academic policy and procedures, university academic policy, regulations and financial considerations applicable to specific situations.
Anticipate needs and respond to requests for enrollment data and statistical reports internally and externally.
Supervise the creation, dispersal, management, evaluation, and certification of all graduation applications for the three annual graduation periods by developing and refining procedures and communications with potential graduates, faculty, and staff.
Hire, mentor, and evaluate reporting staff, including the Assistant Registrar.
Participate in unit strategic planning and develop goals for the year.
Ensure quality by implementing formal quality assurance program.
Actively participate in professional development and encourage staff to do the same, integrating all actions at the School and University levels.
Serve as a member of the SPH Education Committee, SPH Student Experience Committee, BU Graduate Workflow group, SPH MS Committee and SPH Doctoral Committee.
In conjunction with Assistant Director of Advising, counsel students as to specific academic requirements and progress.
Develop appropriate solutions demonstrating discretion and judgment.
Authorized keeper of all student records.
Manage records for current and former students according to records retention policy.
Ensure that student records are accurate and students remain active.
