Posting Summary: The University of Virginia invites nominations and applications for the position of Associate Dean for Finance and Operations (CFOO) with the School of Engineering and Applied Science (SEAS). The University seeks an experienced and motivated leader to provide strategic and operational direction in support of the missions and goals for the School of Engineering and Applied Science. This role will oversee all administrative functions including fiscal and business management, human resources, information technology, communications, and facility management. The CFOO will serve as a member of the senior leadership team and report directly to the Dean. The CFOO is also expected to serve as Treasurer of the University of Virginia Engineering Foundation upon election by the Board of Trustees.
The Role: The Associate Dean for Finance and Operations will be a highly organized and effective fiscal and business leader responsible for developing and implementing the strategic plans and objectives with regard to the School's financial management and business operations. He/she will manage six direct staff members, and will serve as a member of the SEAS leadership team.
Qualifications: Although the University will consider a range of profiles, expressions of interest are sought from candidates possessing the following: -Bachelor's degree required; -Experience in an engineering or technical field preferred; -Experience in higher education preferred; -Master's degree in a business administration or related field preferred; -Significant experience with budget preparation, fund management and accounting, financial analysis and strategic planning; working knowledge of financial methods, accounting principles and statistical approaches for analysis and forecasting; -Experience with reporting environments and developing reports to communicate financial and business information; -Working knowledge of human resources, information technology, and organizational and public communications; -Proven experience providing strategic direction and leading organizational change; -Experience working in a decentralized management structure with the ability to set personal goals and direction as well as that of his/her team; -Significant management and leadership experience with the ability to motivate and inspire others; -Excellent writing, communication, interpersonal and organization skills; -Demonstrated ability to manage multiple, complex projects, meet deadlines, and adapt to changing priorities and needs.
