We are currently looking for a Senior Group Legal Counsel, Aviation Finance.
JOB DESCRIPTION To provide legal support to the Bank for the Aviation Finance business in particular (but not restricted to): - Aviation Finance (Debt) - Aviation Finance (Leasing)
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES * Transactional legal support on Aviation Finance deals including both debt and aircraft leasing transaction (including related disputes). It is a global role based in Singapore. The main center of the SCB Aviation Finance business is in Dublin (where the other Aviation lawyers sit) and the role is to work with Dublin and the business team in Asia primarily in relation to (but not restricted to) cross border transactions connected with Asia. * To ensure appropriate forms of legal documents are used for dealings with third parties with adequate protections and remedies to address credit and event risk, and to help the Bank ensure transactions with third parties are valid and enforceable under the laws of all relevant jurisdictions. * Provide guidance on acceptable amendments to approved standard form documentation and review and approve any non-standard documents or material departures from approved standard form documentation. * To provide support for the development and improvement of standard documentation and processes and assist in developing standards that are applicable globally across Aviation Finance/Corporate Finance (including periodic review of standard-form documentation to ensure it remains appropriate in the light of legal and regulatory developments). * To identify and find ways to reduce legal risk. * To control the quality and cost of legal services provided by external law firms. * To lead and/or work on various Bank-wide projects requiring Legal's involvement. * To assist in reviewing Generic Product Programs, Product Addenda and Jurisdictional Questionnaires and related standard documentation. * Establish an effective interface with geographic Legal & Compliance staff on local legal and regulatory issues. * Work with internal stakeholders including from Credit, Tax, Risk on a variety of issues.

Must be a qualified lawyer (solicitor, attorney or barrister) with 6+ years' post qualification experience and have: * A good knowledge and understanding of aviation finance legal matters. * Experience in aviation and/or banking industry (whether through in-house or private practice) and business acumen. * Familiarity with LMA/APLMA documentation and leasing documents. * Experience in aviation leasing will be a plus. * Understanding of risk management techniques * Exemplary integrity, ethics, independence and resilience * Personal authority with proven ability to establish relationships and provide strong direction at senior levels.
