The Central FP&A Manager of the Spend team leads a group of analysts, reports to the Director of Central FP&A, and works closely with other parts of Rockwell FP&A to identify process improvements and drive standardization in commercial expense planning, reporting and analysis. The role provides an excellent opportunity to enhance people management skills and drive meaningful global change while meeting the challenging demands of an increasing number of business partners. The role is works across borders and organizational boundaries to develop, enhance and help sell standard processes which ensure Rockwell can effectively manage and analyze its spending while at the same time ensuring commonality of process and a focus on material drivers.
The role is responsible for managing the FP&A processes for over $1B of Rockwell commercial spending supporting global functions, IT, and our product businesses. The Spend Manager works across Central FP&A to develop and leverage common tools and processes across the organization and optimize resourcing to support a growing volume of supported spending. The role also interacts closely with BU and functional FP&A leaders to address questions on business performance, FP&A processes and related support.
Scope of duties include: Planning Cycle Management
Forecast: Develop quarterly forecasts for supported areas of spending leveraging common processes and tools and getting key inputs from business partners. Forecasts build should enable clarity in causals and reporting and meet tight quarterly timelines.
Annual Operating Plan : Work with BU, Corporate and IT finance to develop annual plans. Advance efforts to streamline and elevate planning levels to simplify budgeting while ensuring clarity and business partner accountability of AOPs.
Month End Reporting and Causals: Investigate material spending variances and anomalous results during month end. With team, reviews journal entries, accruals, goods receipts, and other transactions to ensure accuracy of reported results. Provide clear and accurate causals of spending variances and develop key messages to ensure BU and function's understanding of what's behind the numbers and risks and opportunities.
Recruit, retain and develop an effective team of analysts that can learn quickly, meet business partner needs, and support efforts to drive standardization and improve processes
Build capacity and flexibility to enable transition of workload between analysts as deliverables change and in order to manage turnover effectively
Work with Central FP&A training lead to build team competency and accuracy in systems usage
Work collaboratively to best meet business partner needs and Central FP&A objectives
Process Improvement and Standardization
Develop and extend best spend practices across the company
Meet business partner-specific needs and while driving standardization and process optimization
Identify and support efforts to extend Central FP&A support into new areas
Utilize common reporting and work with Project Lead to leverage BI reporting platform and tools
