Assistant Vice President - Analyst (Structured Finance Group)

Role: Role: The successful candidate will be responsible for the analysis of the credit aspects of Australian securitisation transactions (primarily, residential mortgage-backed securities, asset-backed securities and covered bonds), including analysis of the underlying assets, deal-level financial modeling, and the formulation and substantiation of credit opinions. The successful candidate will be expected to serve as the primary ratings analyst for transactions, present transactions to rating committees, communicate his or her analysis during internal meetings, and write accurate and insightful pre-sale reports. The candidate will also be expected to complete various special research projects, develop in-depth knowledge of the securitisation sector and pursue thought leadership initiatives to enhance our analytics and research impact.
Perform credit analysis for a variety of residential mortgage-backed and asset-backed securities (RMBS/ABS);
Perform credit risk modeling, including cash flow and simulation models;
Analyze transaction legal documents;
Monitor industry conditions and trends;
Make rating recommendations based on historical asset performance data, financial modeling, analysis of legal documentation, and industry research, and present recommendations at rating committee discussions;
Identify and write accurate, insightful and relevant credit research.
Participate in external outreach such as seminars, conferences and one-on-one meetings.
Actively contributing to fostering a culture of excellence at Moody's.
The Structured Finance Group in Sydney. The primary ratings team is responsible for assigning initial ratings to securities backed by pools of residential mortgage loans, auto loans and other credit types of collateral in Australia and New Zealand. In addition to analyzing newly issued transactions, the team also publishes in-depth research on relevant credit issues.
Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, Law Economics, Statistics, Math or other relevant discipline.
Up to 7 years experience within capital markets, working within a bank, professional accounting firm, law firm or another financial institution is essential.
Understanding of capital markets including asset backed, residential and commercial mortgage backed securities
Structured finance (i.e. RMBS/ABS) experience is a must
Highly numerate with strong financial analysis, cash flow and modeling skills.
Excellent knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel.
Must display initiative and the ability to work independently.
Must display strong organizational, communication (written and verbal) and interpersonal skills.
Candidate with less experience will be consider for Analyst level
