Reporting directly to the Vice Chair of Administration for the Department of Anesthesiology and Perioperative Medicine, provides executive leadership and management of the strategic and operational support systems for the department that relate to fiscal and business planning, accounting and financial reporting, operational budget development and implementation, and payroll. This position is heavily involved in strategic development and leadership for the department; aligning financial operations to advance the research, clinical practice and education missions of the department; ensuring that the financial operations are provided in the most efficient and effective manner and with the highest integrity. This position collaborates closely with Central Financial Services, Hospital Financial Services, School of Medicine (SOM) leadership, and department executive management team.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Financial Oversight and Management - Responsible for timely financial accounting and reporting, and assuring that effective internal controls exist throughout the department to assure accurate reporting. Collaborates with compensation supervisor in order to provide oversight for payroll and compensation planning. Studies and recommends to the Vice Chair of Administration ways to enhance fiscal policies and protocols.
Financial Accounting, Budgeting, and Forecasting -Oversees the design and implementation of the department annual budget to meet strategic and operational objectives, in compliance with University guidelines. Responsible for oversight of accounts payable, journal entries, purchasing, fiscal reconciliations and financial monitoring and reporting.
Strategic Development & Leadership- Assists Vice Chair of Administration in the development and implementation of the strategic plan and goals. Continually provide analysis of various staffing models within each mission area. Provides financial pro forma for new business ventures. Assists with recruitment explanation plans. Partners with Director of Pain Center to manage the hospital org account.
Forge collaborative relationships based on transparency of information, clear verbal and written communication, and immediate personal availability to hospital and SOM leaders to listen and respond to current needs.
