The Director of Finance reports to the President and has overall responsibility for all internal / external financial reporting, general and cost accounting, financial planning & analysis, banking, cashing management, taxes, and audit. The IT department also reports to this position.
Establish a comprehensive FP&A program and reporting process that will provide other senior managers and the Board of Directors a clear and concise review of current and projected financial and operating results.
Directs the innovation, development, coordination, and execution of company’s annual planning process.
Directs all accounting activities from “passive, traditional” reporting to “proactive, change-compelling” reporting which includes continuous improvement in policies, processes, and practices.
Continues evolution of finance function from “functional” to “process” orientation.
Strategic orientation and management of all cost accounting activities including development, application and measurement of product standard costs and associated variance reporting and remediation.
Interfaces with manufacturing regarding budgeting, operating performance, and analytical focus.
Champions the deployment and management of ERP and other IT systems to the working benefit of all departments and groups.
Oversees all aspects of company disbursements and receivables, including customer-oriented programs (marketing concessions, etc.)
Responsible for control of capital assets, including acquisition, disposal and related accounting.
Develops and implements comprehensive internal controls to ensure appropriate use and protection of all assets.
Plans and manages the conduct of all internal/external audits.
Oversees the evolution of relevant benchmark analysis, including direct competitors and other appropriate frames of reference.
Champions the facilitation of company-wide EVA (economic value added) methodologies. Creates and applies user-friendly tools necessary for any evaluation need of the organization.
Develops and nurtures banking relationships; anticipates corporate financial needs and creates execution strategies/tactics that address the financial resource requirements of the company.
Designs internal processes to manage and account for use and control of revolving lines of credit.
Oversees and directs corporate insurance/risk mitigation efforts (excluding workers comp & benefits programs) to ensure appropriate coverage at reasonable cost. Champions disaster recovery initiatives.
Utilizes internal and external resources to develop short and long-range tax mitigation strategies. Oversees accounting for tax provision and federal and state tax compliance.

BS in Accounting or Finance; MBA a plus but not required
CPA preferred, including strong knowledge of GAAP
Eight years financial management experience at the Controller level or above with a manufacturer
Significant background in cost accounting, financial planning & analysis, banking and capitalization strategies and basic knowledge of accounting for income tax and compliance
Exposure to EVA is highly desirable
