Advertised Summary Job Description: This position reports directly to the Executive Director of Campus Services Finance. Health Services provides services and programs which support the well-being of the campus community and is comprised of eight departments with an annual budget of over $25 million. The Associate Director of Health Services Finance will lead and oversee the implementation of a day-to-day financial strategic plan for all Health Services departments.
The Associate Director is responsible for ensuring that the preparation of the annual and monthly budget submissions are provided on a timely manner. In addition, he/she performs periodic and year-end closings related to the reconciliation of all internal accounting and billing systems. In addition, the Associate Director is responsible for ensuring that all financial standards are in place and have been met.
He/She analyzes monthly financial variance reports and using data extracted from various University financial systems prepares reports and analysis for the review of executive and senior management members, including working closely with the Office of Management and Budget, the Office of the Treasurer and Controller, and Purchasing. The Associate Director is also responsible for developing and implementing corrective action reports to prevent overdrafts. The incumbent will also provide high-level analytic support for Health Services ongoing operations and projects.
The Associate Director will oversee and lead implementation of new workflows and processes. Performs special projects and represents the Executive Director in committees as assigned.
General Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor's degree required, Advanced degree desired. Minimum 5 - 7 years of work experience in an accounting or finance position required.
Additional Specific Minimum Qualifications: Knowledge of financial and general accounting principles; Initiative and ability to work independently required. Detail-oriented with strong problem solving and exceptional analytical skills; Must be flexible, organized, capable of performing multiple tasks, and comfortable working under deadlines. Strong interpersonal skills required. Excellent verbal and written skills required. Ability to work in a fast paced, changing environment required.
Ability to prepare reports, summaries and analyses and present findings. Demonstrated skills in problem assessment and resolution as well as collaborative problem solving in a complex, interdisciplinary setting required. Strong customer service skills demonstrating tact and sensitivity in stressful situations required. Strong technical skills required, including overall proficiency with Microsoft Office programs and advanced Excel knowledge.
Preferred Qualifications: Financial analytical experience in a university or not-for-profit setting a plus.
