To oversee and be ultimately responsible for the Accounting support functions and personnel of the Firm, including its subsidiaries, and shareholder’s limited partnerships, in the areas of: financial accounting, including external reporting, internal control functions, and financial policies and procedures. And to assist the Managing Shareholder and all shareholders in meeting the Firm’s financial and business objectives.
Implement and maintain financial controls and guidelines which optimize cost effectiveness and profitability.
Review monthly reports for submission to the Managing Shareholder, COO and other shareholders (as applicable) regarding performance against budgets for the Firm, its subsidiaries and shareholder’s limited partnerships.
Review and submit financial reports, including summaries of time recorded, accounts receivable, accounts payable, etc. for the Firm, its subsidiaries and shareholder’s limited partnerships.
Design, prepare, or review forecasts suitable for the basis of managerial decisions.
Prepare annual budget including organizing, reviewing, analyzing, and formatting support information provided by the department chairs for the consideration and adoption by the Managing Shareholder.
Cash management of the Firm.
Negotiate lease agreements for capital equipment.
Oversee the billing and collection processes.
Oversee Aderant maintenance and project management.
Insure the timely payments of the Firm’s Retirement Plan contributions and timely filing of appropriate reports related to such plans.
Maintain good relations with banks and other lenders in the community.
Tax forecasting/planning/filing and coordinate same with Firm’s tax accounting firm.
Act as the Firm’s liaison with the CPA firms which we engage.
Oversee and coordinate the annual audit/review of the financial records of the Firm.
Insure the timely preparation and filing of all tax returns, payment of withholding taxes, and reporting requirements of all levels of government for the Firm, its subsidiaries and Shareholder’s Limited Partnerships.
Study and recommend improved systems in accounting, timekeeping, billing and collections.
Assist the Compensation Committee by compiling partner performance financial information and analysis.
Prepare and maintain schedule of unfunded/unpaid shareholder holdback.
Other Administrative Functions:
To serve as a business partner and advisor for the shareholders and management in analyzing this information for their efficient management of the Firm and improved performance.
To provide accurate financial information to the Firm’s shareholders and management on a timely basis.
To assist in the development and monitoring of fiscal and business policies, controls and procedures.
To process financial transactions and serve as the technical specialist in the areas of audit, tax, trust, billing, collections and cash management of the Firm, its subsidiaries, its Retirement Plans and shareholder’s limited partnerships.
To foster and promote a “client service” attitude among the administrative personnel to our external clients and our internal clients - attorneys and shareholders.
Any and all other duties as may be required of the job.
REQUIREMENTS: Bachelors degree, CPA License
