We provide strategic direction and execution of financial systems, reporting and controls, budget preparation and reconciliation, and compliance for EHE Administration, faculty, staff, and students.
The primary role of the College of Education and Human Ecology’s (EHE) Director of Finance and Business Services acts as the Senior Fiscal Officer (SFO) for EHE and works as a strategic financial partner to the Dean. This pivotal position works to preserve and enhance EHE’s assets in order to allow the college to achieve our vision, implement our mission, and promote our values. The Director reports to the Dean and oversees the financial, payroll and accounting operations of the college and is responsible for oversight of all fiscal services including: financial systems, reporting and controls, and the College's Business Operations Service Center (BOSC), as well as managing and communicating fiscal policies and regulations. This position is also responsible for participating in the college’s strategic planning process and will consult with the Dean and senior leaders on complex fiscal matters, forecasting and policies. The Director will be encouraged to investigate and modify fiscal related workflows to find operational and organizational processes that are strategic, efficient and effective; our business environment requires both consistency and flexibility with the financial management and reporting processes. The Director of Finance & Business Services is expected to provide guidance to the college on fiscal matters, while also providing stellar service to the college in all areas under the fiscal domain. Likewise, the position is responsible for implementing policies and practices to assure the continued long-term financial strength and sound fiscal management of the college. In addition, the position is expected to proactively identify creative and fiscally sound methods for funding college operations and projects and for identifying new sources of revenue. This position will co-lead, along with the Dean, the college’s budget advisory committee and is a key member of the college’s leadership team.
The Director of Finance and Business Services position reports to the Dean and provides oversight and leadership to the EHE Fiscal Team, Business Operations Service Center, and associated payroll and financial operations in EHE. This includes the direct supervision of the Assistant Director and the Service Center Manager, and the indirect management of eight Fiscal and Payroll Associates in the Business Operations Service Center and ten fiscal staff embedded within units and departments across the college. The fiscal and payroll staff work in a fast-paced, decentralized environment, located across multiple locations across OSU's central campus.
In the first 60 to 90 days of employment, the successful candidate for this position will accomplish the following:
Establish pivotal relationships within the college and across the university's financial operations
Partner with the Dean and appropriate leadership team members to establish a reliable five year financial forecast for the college in alignment with EHE's strategic plan
Review existing operations and vacancies to identify opportunities in organizational alignment, structure and efficiency, while maintaining appropriate segregation of duties
Lead the process of closing out the college budget for FY18 and building the FY19 college budget
Develop a comprehensive understanding of college/university policy and procedures.

The selected candidate for this position must have demonstrated success in several areas, including:
Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent education and experience in accounting, management information systems and business administration.
Minimum of five years of experience in a senior fiscal position, with a minimum of three of those years in an executive level position, preferably as a senior fiscal officer, managing operational staff.
Experience with strategic planning, scenario analysis, forecasting and experience working in a team environment across diverse constituencies and organizations.
Possess strong and effective leadership, management and interpersonal skills.
Desired requirements include:
Master’s Degree or equivalent education and experience.
Minimum of five years of experience working in a senior fiscal position within an academic setting.
Experience with Responsibility Based Budgeting (RBB) and CPA.
Target Salary: $120,000.00 - $140,000.00 Annually
