Position Overview: The Associate Data Analyst will have primary responsibility for all financial analysis of which the deliverables will contribute to Harvard's multi-year financial planning process. The role will work collaboratively across the university to understand common data needs and deliver analysis to inform strategic issues.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities (Essential Functions*):
Provides analysis of fundraising performance and cash received to generate financial projections for use by School finance offices in Harvard's multi-year financial planning process
Works with Office of Financial Strategy & Planning to establish common understanding of data needs and to resolve data challenges facing both groups
Creates in depth analyses that inform critical strategic issues facing Senior Leadership
Conducts quantitative and qualitative analyses on a broad array of issues common to Higher education & fundraising
Writes narrative companions to visual analyses, bringing an understanding of context and reasoning to recipients of information
Presents findings, often in small to moderate sized meetings with Senior Leadership
Reviews, analyzes, and evaluates business data and systems within the context of end user needs, and make recommendations to improve processes
Utilizes best practices on statistical graphics and data visualization to deliver presentation-ready analysis for internal or external audiences
Mines the data to surface unknown business drivers
Designs, develops & augments existing dashboards to meet needs identified through her interactions with business partners

Graduate from an accredited college with a Bachelor's degree required. Minimum of five (5) years of experience in higher education fundraising, with a background in data management, reporting, financial analysis or funds management. Minimum 1 year of experience developing reports or analysis in common analytic, statistic or reporting software, such as Qlik, R, SPSS, Tableau or OBIEE.
Preference given to experience with QlikView, advancement/fundraising, or financial analysis.
Ability to work in a fast paced, high volume environment. Requires superb organizational skills.
Communicates complex concepts effectively with technical staff and non-technical staff. Public speaking and presentation skills required.
Expertise to leverage complex programming and coding within statistical modeling tools.
Motivation to learn and willingness to change. Ability to manage multiple tasks under competing deadlines and shifting priorities.
Strong written and verbal communication skills with experience writing functional requirements
Critical attention to data security and risk management
Evaluates problems accurately and displays sound and confidential judgment
Must have an even disposition and be able to work effectively and politely with all people from all types of backgrounds and experience and in all types of situations
