Business Manager 2 (Classified Managerial Plan)
Reporting to the Vice President of Finance and Operations, the Director of Finance will provide leadership and expertise in the budget and financial affairs of the college. In addition, the Director of Finance will provide management, direction and supervision to accounting office staff and promote equity and inclusion. The Director of Finance will recommend policy and establish procedures for all accounting functions to ensure adequate internal controls and compliance with state and federal laws and regulations.
Specific duties include:
Lead and manage the accounting and budgeting functions for the college.
Provide management, direction and supervision to accounting office staff.
Manage grant accounting process.
NOTE: Must be able to travel between campuses and to off-site locations.
NOTE: This position will be located at both Brooklyn Park and Eden Prairie Campuses with Brooklyn Park as the home campus.

B.S. in Accounting or related field or five or more years of directly related professional level accounting/finance experience which includes preparing and presenting budgets, cost projections, and financial analyses or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Three or more years of formal supervisory experience demonstrating the ability to effectively delegate to and manage professional, technical and clerical staff and promote teamwork.
Strong knowledge and understanding of accounting principles and standards, including fund accounting and accrual.
Ability to understand and interpret statistical and financial data for the purposes of monitoring, developing, recommending, implementing and communicating sound administrative and financial policies and procedures.
Strong written and verbal communication skills sufficient to write, prepare, and edit materials such as memos, procedures, reports, presentations, etc. and clearly explain, discuss, communicate and present technical ideas and procedures to technical and non-technical staff, managers and senior managers.
Strong overall computer skills with expertise in various database, spreadsheet, word processing and report generating programs, such as Access, Excel, Word, Hyperion/Brio, Crystal, and other software.
Excellent organizational skills with the ability to handle multiple tasks with varying timelines.
Demonstrated ability to work with people from diverse backgrounds.
CPA, MBA or equivalent work experience.
Working knowledge of payroll processes & guidelines and financial aid accounting & reporting requirements.
Working knowledge of Minnesota State financial policies and procedures.
Experience with and understanding of the ISRS, SCUPPS, SEMA4, and SWIFT systems and the interrelationships between them.
Experience with Hyperion/Brio (EPM 11).
Experience supervising in a union environment.
