Full Time; Career Starting Salary Range: $5,000.00-$5,845.84/monthly. Salary commensurate with qualifications and experience.

The Finance Analyst uses skills as a seasoned, experienced professional to perform and manage financial operations for the UC Santa Cruz Genomics Institute (GI). Having a solid understanding of industry practices and organizational policies and procedures, the incumbent oversees and handles all financial transactions for the unit. They devise and implement process improvements, keep pace with and communicate regulations and guidelines, and resolve a wide range of issues, demonstrating good judgment in selecting methods and techniques for obtaining solutions. This position works directly with units internal and external to the GI, including grant administrators, program managers, principal investigators, divisional business offices, UCSC Procurement, Financial Affairs, Accounts Payable and other units to ensure financial operations are run smoothly and within policy. This position is independently responsible for GI accounts payable and receivable, reimbursements, procurement, and fund management as well as applying professional theory, experience, and broad job knowledge to develop and implement sound financial practices. The selected candidate should be excited to work in a fast-paced, start-up like environment within an institution of higher education in beautiful Santa Cruz, California.
Bachelor's degree in related area and / or equivalent experience/training.
Experience developing and implementing financial policies and procedures.
Experience gathering required information to organize and perform financial analysis assignments.
Proven ability to effectively present information verbally and in writing in a clear and concise manner.
Experience using spreadsheet and database software for complex financial analysis, fiscal management, and financial reports.
