Public Finance and Global Infrastructure Group Business Relationship Management team hub is committed to developing and maintaining relationships with capital market participants globally including investors, issuers, bankers and financial advisors in all sectors of the Public Finance markets in the U.S. and EMEA as well as in the LatAm and APAC regions. In the U.S., the coverage includes States, Local Tax-Supported, Higher Education and Not-for-Profits, Healthcare, Housing, Public Power and Water and Sewer Utilities as well as Municipal Structured programs. The International team covers the foreign and local currency debt of subnational governments as wells as numerous public sector entities including Social Housing, Public Transport, Higher Education and Public Healthcare. BRM is also responsible for coverage of the global infrastructure sectors including Transportation (airports, toll roads, seaports and rail), Energy (thermal and renewable power, oil and gas as well as transmission), and Sports. The group oversees strategies and initiatives for investor calling programs, conferences and Fitch hosted events, regarding new products, tools, research and initiatives. BRM also works closely to ensure a cohesive and comprehensive approach to developing and maintaining our rating relationships.
The candidate will work closely with senior BRM professionals who are responsible for developing and maintaining relationships with issuers, investors, investment banks and financial advisors in the public finance and global infrastructure sectors. The BRM team's principal objective is to generate new US Public Finance and Infrastructure rating mandates through consistent and targeted marketing and relationship development. As a junior member of the team, the candidates' efforts will be focused on the aspects of team's outreach directed at all sectors of the capital markets professionals. Day-to-day activities include:
Maintaining constant awareness of market conditions, trends, developments in the municipal debt markets, furthermore, how or where these may impact rating agencies and the firms' new business initiatives;
Researching marketing angles or areas where firm can differentiate itself from the competition, communicate and present findings to co-workers for discussion;
Developing marketing case studies and presentation slides dedicated to a specific sector or vertical for an upcoming or prospective meeting
Creating, coordinating and implementing outreach plans (eg, research report distribution, promoting 'wins') for key targets
Taking lead on preparation of pitchbooks, market analyses, post-meeting follow-ups, data gathering for near-term and longer-term initiatives; Other:
Travel limited, but primarily within the Continental U.S., amount dependent on business need.
Knowledge of Bloomberg, Thomson Reuters or other fixed income data/information service provider sources
Minimum of 2-4 years' experience in US Public Finance Capital Markets; such experience likely to come from having worked within investment banking, financial advisory, buy/sell side, rating agency or bond insurer;
Bachelor's degree, MPA,MBA / CFA a plus;
Understanding and experience with public finance debt deal processes, key parties, roles and motivations of important constituents (ie, bankers, issuers, investors, financial sponsors);
Ability to gather intelligence from public sources, piece together information, draw clear and concise conclusions that result in a strategy or recommendation for pursuing new business opportunity
Understanding and proficiency of analytical credit concepts and capability to translate those into marketing messages for external audiences
Skills in time and organizational management across a range of projects at a given time, prioritize and re-prioritize accordingly;
Independent, self-starter mind-set; willing to think creatively and pursue projects without constant oversight;
Strong communication skills, attention to detail in preparing external presentations and performing market research.
