The Health Sciences Business Center is seeking a Finance & Accounting Manager. This is a full-time (1.0 FTE), 12-month, fixed term professional faculty position. Reappointment is at the discretion of the Business Center Manager.
The Finance and Accounting Manager is responsible for supervising Business Center budget and financial reporting functions. The Finance and Accounting Manager serves as consultant to unit/college administrators and management and provides guidance and advice in financial functions, practices, processes and staffing in order to provide timely and effective services to the units/colleges. The Finance and Accounting Manager is responsible for providing supervision and guidance to the financial staff in the Business Center and in continuously reviewing processes for improvement, streamlining and automation.
The Finance and Accounting Manager manages college financial issues involving diverse interests, multiple stakeholders, conflicting practices, a range of possible solutions or other elements that contribute to complexity. The Finance and Accounting Manager applies a broad knowledge of financial and budgeting principles and policies and collaborates with the staff of Business Affairs and the Budget Office to resolve issues, complete responsibilities, and implement policies and programs. The Finance and Accounting Manager works closely with Business Affairs and the Budget Office to plan and participate in program and policy development and implementation at the unit/college level. The Finance and Accounting Manager’s decisions can have a broad impact on the units/colleges that he/she serves.
Positions in this job profile manage the day-to-day operations of finance and accounting functions within a business center. They provide ideas and subject matter expertise while ensuring effective, efficient workflow and adherence to policy and standards. They may contribute to the development of the budget and are accountable for managing the budget and activities of staff.
A Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration or a closely related field and five years of professional level financial/accounting experience as a Financial and Accounting generalist. A combination of related experience and educational background may be substituted for this credential.
Two or more years of relevant supervisory experience.
Demonstrated leadership and effective communication skills in a team environment.
Demonstrated ability to work independently and resolve problems.
Strong written and oral communication skills.
Excellent computer skills in MS Office applications, database management and enterprise computing systems.
Demonstrable commitment to promoting and enhancing diversity.
This position is designated as a critical or security-sensitive position; therefore, the incumbent must successfully complete a criminal history check and be determined to be position qualified as per OSU Standard 576-055-0000 et seq. Incumbents are required to self-report convictions and those in youth programs may have additional criminal history checks every 24 months.
