The Center for Diabetes Technology at the University of Virginia is looking for a Finance Generalist to provide professional level financial, accounting, and budget assistance. The Finance Generalist will also assist with other operational matters including social media engagement, HR service assistance, and data analysis assistance.
Qualified applicants must have a Bachelor's degree by date of hire with at least two years of experience in accounting or financial system management, analysis, or use. Experience gained during pursuit of degree may be considered. Bachelor's degree in finance, accounting, or related field may substitute for the experience.
Working in a fast-paced healthcare, research, or university environment is preferred.
This is a restricted position and is contingent upon continued grant funding.
Required Minimum Level of Education: *Degree Required
Required Specific Degree/Training: Bachelor's degree by date of hire. Bachelor's degree in finance, accounting, or related field may substitute for the experience.
Required Minimum Level of Experience: Some - up to 4 years
Required Specific Experience: At least two years of experience in accounting or financial system management, analysis, or use. Experience gained during pursuit of degree may be considered.
Preferred Minimum Level of Experience: Some - up to 4 years
Preferred Specific Experience: Experience with conducting or supporting scientific and research applications, especially healthcare or clinical research, preferred. Experience gained during pursuit of degree may be considered.
Experience with official social media representation including brand management, public interaction, and content creation and curation.
Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: 1.Ability to resolve problems. 2.Ability to work accurately with attention to detail. 3.Ability to conduct activities and make decisions according to ethical standards. 4.Ability to analyze and present information. 5.Strong analytic and numerical ability. 6.Working knowledge of financial operations. 7.Ability to work independently and as part of a team. 8.Proficiency in computer applications, especially with numerical and statistical applications, such as Excel. 9.Ability to learn and master a variety of database and software programs, query data, and create reports. 10.Detailed oriented. 11.Excellent written and oral communication skills and ability to communicate with staff across many levels and areas of University. 12.Strong knowledge of financial principles and operations.
