ASSOCIATE DIRECTOR OF ADMINISTRATION AND FINANCE, Abdul Latif Jameel Poverty Action Lab (J-PAL)-North America, to lead overall operational functions by creating effective operations, internal documentation and communication systems, and financial planning to help the team maximize the effectiveness of its work. Will develop and strengthen the human resources systems to maintain a positive, dynamic team culture, including recruitment and hiring with a strategic focus on talent acquisition and diversity, onboarding, professional development for staff, and annual performance reviews; directly manage staff in the administration and finance vertical; provide strategic direction to the office on how to best document, organize, and communicate information across the organization; lead efforts to strengthen current relationships with foundations and spearhead opportunities for new relationships with philanthropic organizations; and provide oversight to finance team on overall finance and grants management, including development of budgets and projections, financial reporting, and subaward administration.

Job Requirements REQUIRED: at least ten years of experience in the financial and organizational management of complex operations and finances; demonstrated leadership in supervising teams with direct and indirect reports; a bachelor's degree (master's strongly preferred) in a relevant field such as public administration, business administration, or nonprofit management; strong interpersonal and analytical skills; and advanced written and verbal communication skills. Experience in an academic research setting and with high-level fund-raising activities and nonprofit financial management strongly preferred. Strong computer experience using Salesforce, Excel, SAP, and other financial and project management platforms also preferred; as is knowledge of MIT's financial/accounting structures and ability to teach others how to best use systems and inspire consistent use across systems.
