The Director of Finance assists the President, Vice President of Operations and Executive Vice President in the execution of finance functions as established in the Financial Control Manuals and as directed by the management of JARC and its affiliate, JARC-Baltimore. The two agencies have combined budgets of $4.3 Million budget – with over 100 funding streams, including government, foundation, corporate, fees-for-service, and others.
The Director - Finance is responsible for all of JARC and JARC-Baltimore accounting and finance activities with the organization, as well as audit and financial compliance; in this capacity, the Director of Finance supervises the Finance Manager and indirectly the Operations Coordinator.
Responsible for ensuring JARC is following proper financial controls and maintaining high standards of ethics and accountability.
Supervises and ensures accurate and timely billing, recording and collections of accounts receivables.
Supervises and ensures accurate and timely accounts payables, invoices and recordkeeping.
Monitors monthly general journal entries to record payroll, depreciation, and other necessary entries; ensure accurate and proper release of revenues.
Prepares program and agency annual budgets.
Monitors completion of all vouchers and reviews for accuracy.
Supervises the preparation of monthly reports to the Board of Directors, including Budget Variance, Cash Flow, P&L and Balance Sheet.
Plays lead role in presenting reports to Finance Committee in monthly meetings.
Prepare annual agency audit schedules (i.e. Fixed Assets, Deferred Revenues, etc.); liaises with auditing firm; responsible for successful audit results.
Oversees approximately 8-10 government contract audits per year; prepares reports/documentation and liaises with auditors.
Supervises the calculation of cost allocations of personnel, occupancy and other indirect cost.
Prepares government and foundation budget documents with Development Director and Program Directors. Assist with grant applications and reporting to funders.
Supervises the monthly bank reconciliation.
Coordinates with the President, Executive Vice President, Vice President of Operations to update financial controls manual for board approval annually.
Other duties as assigned.
Create and manage JARC’s operating budget in collaboration with senior management team.
Key role in replication and geographic expansion of JARC programs regionally and nationally.
Work with Development team to develop grant budgets and create reports for funders.
Play lead role in monthly Finance Committee meetings of the Board of Directors.
Participates on the Management Team.
A minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or 5 years of non-profit accounting experience. CPA a plus.
Thorough knowledge and experience applying non-profit accounting principles and systems.
Proficiency in Quick Books and Microsoft Excel, Outlook and Word a must.
Strong organizational skills including the ability to effectively prioritize tasks and meet deadlines in a fast paced environment.
Ability to communicate effectively with customers, vendors, and employees at all levels of the organization.
Strong analytical skills.
Professionalism, flexibility, good judgment and commitment to teamwork.
Experience with government grant requirements a plus.
Additional Salary Information: Terms/Conditions:
Salary: $60,000 – $70,000 depending on experience
