Carnegie Mellon University's Finance division is searching for a Director of Financial Reporting Compliance and Internal Controls. This is an exciting opportunity for someone who thrives in an interesting and challenging work environment. You will be a key leader in the development, review and maintenance effort of financial accounting policies, procedures, and controls to ensure timely, accurate and effective financial reporting by the University.
Core responsibilities will include:
Lead efforts to research, analyze and document internal technical accounting matters including the implementation of new technical accounting standards and internal controls and evaluation of business transactions.Work within the controller's Office to summarize and identify impact to the university's financial statements.Communicate within Finance and University wide to train and implement new standards, controls and processes.Draft white papers as necessary to summarize accounting literature and associated process.
Lead effort to document financial policies and procedures for the controller's office.Assist with restructuring and evaluation of financial policies, processes and procedures to ensure timeliness, accuracy, effectiveness and appropriateness. This includes all procedures related to close.
Coordinate and identify efficiencies and process during audits in coordination with the Sr. Director and Controller.
Serve and lead as needed on various committee/project groups for review and also to conduct peer benchmarking of peer university accounting policies and procedures.
Participate on division strategic projects related to technical accounting and participate in other projects/analysis as needed.

Master's degree in accounting, finance, business, or related field highly desired; combination of education, experience, and training will be considered.
Minimum fifteen years' experience in financial analysis, financial reporting, or accounting required.Progressive responsibility, leadership and management experience highly desired.
