Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
The Finance Coordinator is responsible for budget management and expense tracking within the Office of Distance Education.
Daily and extensive use of Banner HR and Banner Finance.
Manages all budgetary responsibilities (state funds and trust funds) for Distance Education, including faculty and staff contracts, PCard reconciliation, travel, vendor payment, purchasing liaison, as well as liaison with off-campus locations. Routine tasks associated with this duty include estimation of annual receipts and appropriation expenditures, budgeting, and distribution of DE funds, management of DE faculty teaching contract process, HR functions for adjunct faculty, and the timely payment of faculty for teaching at off-campus locations.
Manages the hiring, payment to, and supervision of student and some non-student temporary workers.
Production of critical reports (SCH projections) and serving as liaison for room scheduling at & communication to the various sites, calculating and executing payment of classroom/facility use payments to those sites, carrying out the purchasing and inventory functions of the Office of Distance Education, managing the ordering of textbooks for extension courses, and acting as fiscal manager for Appalachian's part of the UNC-Chapel Hill Independent Studies Consortium.
Bachelor’s degree and at least one year’s experience in an office setting, with a preference for education and experience in accounting or a related business area.
