Posting Summary: The School of Engineering and Applied Science at the University of Virginia is currently seeking a seasoned and accomplished Finance Generalist to support the Center for Transportation. The successful candidate will perform the following functions: account reconciliation, cost transfers, labor distribution scheduling and adjustments, purchasing and reimbursements for research center faculty, staff and students. Utilize spreadsheets for the purpose of budgeting, tracking and projecting large, multi-project research grants. The successful candidate will also take the lead on implementing new innovative process improvements.
Qualified applicants will have a Bachelor's degree preferably in accounting, and possess at least five years of experience in accounting, finance and/or grants management. Experience with the use of QuickBooks, budget development and cost projections, as well as intermediate to advanced Excel skills are required. The ideal candidate will have strong knowledge of financial principles and accounting practices; be detail oriented; and have strong quantitative analytical skills. Excellent written and oral communication skills and the ability to communicate with staff across many levels and areas of the University are also required.
