Together, St. Joseph Academy and Villa St. Francis are seeking an experienced Finance Director to develop, implement, analyze and manage the financial functions necessary to operate each ministry.
St. Joseph Academy is a Catholic educational organization sponsored by the Felician Sisters. Our mission is to educate children to be successful life-long learners and problem solvers. Our early childhood education center serves children 6 weeks through 12 years old while our Milwaukee Parental Choice School continues to grow, offering K4-7th grade in the 2017-2018 school year.
Villa St. Francis provides a caring, home-like living environment for more than 100 residents with a variety of care needs. Villa St. Francis provides person-centered services to meet the contemporary needs of aging individuals and their families and is also sponsored by the Felician Sisters.
Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance or related Business field, Master’s degree preferred
CPA preferred but not required
5+ years related experience, including supervisory experience
Accounting and Payroll systems experience required
Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office products
Ability to identify, analyze, and resolve problems
Excellent written and oral communication skills including presentation skills, particularly reporting financial information at Board Meetings
Ability and willingness to work cooperatively with others, including staff, colleagues, board members, and vendors
Exhibits sound and accurate judgment with the ability to make timely decisions
Detail oriented; ability to work under pressure, multi-task, and meet deadlines
Essential Job Duties:
Oversee and is ultimately responsible for the business office functions and information technology services for Milwaukee sponsored ministries: St. Joseph Academy (SJA) and Villa St. Francis (VSF): including billing, collections, accounts receivable management, accounts payable, cash receipts and payroll processing.
Monitor cash management including scheduling payables based on timing of cash receipts, monitor daily cash counts, cash summaries, cash receipts and petty cash funds
Participate in management meetings, and any other applicable meetings or committees
Provide finance related information for effective decision-making to CEO and management team on a pro-active basis
Communicate effectively and efficiently with Board Finance Committee on monthly financial reports and special projects as needed. Prepare finance materials for quarterly Board meetings and other as needed
Leads in audit work preparation; handle on-site work with auditors
Monitor and review all billing and collections
Monitor and review all accounts payable functions, including proper account classification and authorization
Monitor and review all payroll processing functions
Prepare backup and supporting financial information for monthly financial statement preparation
Perform monthly bank reconciliations
Annual budget preparation
Provides leadership and supervision to Finance department staff to ensure that quality services are rendered
Interview, hires, orients, evaluates, develops and disciplines all department staff
Acts as a role model in providing inter-and intra-departmental cooperation
Monitors and assures staff adherence to established policies, procedures, and compliance with professional, governmental, and regulatory standards
Develop, revise, implement, and administer all policies/procedures applicable to areas of responsibility
Monitor purchasing function
Keep abreast of business and finance trends in respective ministry industries
Develop internal control policies and procedures for financial activities including cash handling, safeguarding assets, accounting, and financial reporting
Perform financial analysis, trend analysis, and monitor monthly variances from the budget
Maintain familiarity and monitor regulations for participation in government funded programs. Ensure all reports required by regulatory or governmental agencies are prepared and filed
