University Budget Planning and Analysis, part of the Finance unit at West Virginia University, is seeking applications for a Financial Analyst. This position is primarily responsible for the extraction of key budget data from all WVU systems and summarizing the data in an efficient and effective manner.
In order to be successful in this position, the ideal candidate will:
Perform various tasks as part of the formulation, preparation, and maintenance of the $1 billion University budget, including all three WVU system campuses.
Prepare various budget reports for the West Virginia Higher Education Policy Commission and other state agencies.
Assist in the maintenance of various budget processes, including analysis and processing of budget modifications and transfers, analysis and processing of capital budget transactions, and processing budget allocation letters.
Assist in the preparation of College-level analytics, trend analysis, variance analysis, management reporting, forecasting, and monitoring.
With direction from the Chief University Budget Officer, regularly be responsible for various ad hoc requests and tasks.
Bachelor's degree in finance, accounting, or a directly related field
Experience as a financial analyst or as an accounting or auditing associate that includes planning, maintenance, auditing and reporting preferred.
Advanced Excel skills a must
Strong oral and written communication skills
Higher education experience is preferred
Ability to perform tasks independently, complete tasks by specific deadlines, and take the necessary initiatives to solve problems related to these tasks
