UWMC has an exciting opportunity for a full-time FINANCE MANAGER in our Pathology department. This position will be working with data from many different systems and will need to develop processes for integrating this data. Data will come form UWMC hospital, HMC Hospital, UWP as well as Lab Medicine. This position provides overall technical and managerial leadership to the business, financial affairs, and accounting operations of Pathology including operations, department expenditures, control fund accounting, capital and budget planning, and reconciliation of such funds. This position will closely work with financial team in the Department of Pathology.

Develop, Monitor & Analyze Budgets, Pricing and new equipment, testing or business: Develop budgets for Hospital Pathology and Reference lab in coordination with the Pathology Leadership Team and other key finance staff.
Calculate all projected salaries, equipment, personnel FTE's, indirect costs, and special or exceptional costs
Prepare proposed budget and expense justifications and predicted workload growth. Make sure budget information is shared with all Pathology Staff and fiscal information is submitted on time
Develop a Business Plan format
Work closely with Lab Directors and staff to develop business plans for potential new outside business, new testing and/or the addition of a new piece of equipment
Auditing: Prepare financial status reports monthly or bimonthly as required to identify expenditures, encumbrances, fund balances, to forecast needs and identify potential problems
Compare internal reports to reports received from finance
Research and determine action for discrepancies found. Develop strategies for long range plans
Participate in the development of electronic data support systems to assist in real-time analysis, review and auditing
Invoice payment & receiving: Receive, verify and ready for approval for payment all invoices received in Pathology. Responsible for billing other departments that we perform work for
Oversee special projects to assure fiscal need and status
Will lead and create tools and regular check-ins on financial goals and ways to improve on those with fiscal ideas by leading our transcription and coding groups with this work
REQUIREMENTS: Minimum 5 years fiscal auditing and budgeting experience. Bachelor's degree in accounting, business, finance or related field; budget development and auditing experience; ability to work with multiple reporting lines for accountability; ability to work independently, and as part of a team; flexible and self-motivated; demonstrated proficiency using PCs, MS Office Suite including Word, Excel and Access; ability to work under the pressure of deadlines in a fast-paced environment; excellent verbal and written communication skills; knowledge of confidentiality regulations under HIPAA; understanding of UW IT Security Policy; or equivalent education and experience.
