The Sponsored Projects & Property Administration department is seeking applications for a Corporate Accountant Grants Lead position. This position is responsible for performing advanced accounting and financial system assignments to support specialized areas of sponsored research accounting and award management at the institution level, such as financial analysis and internal and external reporting, cash management, grants accounting, cost accounting and budget management. The work of this position has broad impact throughout the institution, inclusive of its regional campuses, and WVU Research Corporation in regard to the way accounting and financial information is captured and reported. This position provides training and functional guidance to other Corporate Accountant levels within the Sponsored Research Accounting section of the Financial Services Department and provides training to other individuals at the institution, including the regional campuses.
In order to be successful in this position, the ideal candidate will:
Insure compliance with all federal, state, and university regulations on all post award accounting issues and facilitating research administration for the university community.
Manage all post award related issues and the reporting of such issues to the Director, Assistant Director, Federal, State, and local agencies for external and internal purposes where appropriate.
Provides professional and technical competence in all phases of financial management of post award issues.
Interfaces with other University service units in order to facilitate the development and completion of these duties and reports.
Developing and maintaining a thorough understanding of the various modules, from a system and functional perspective, and their integration within the overall financial and human resources administrative systems.
Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Economics or Finance that includes 12 credit hours in Accounting. Master's degree in a related field is preferred
Six (6) years experience in accounting, finance or related field and Project Management or lead work responsibility.
Work experience in College and University Accounting is preferred
Automated information system (Oracle preferred)
A thorough knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles and their application to recording financial information and the preparation of financial statements and other financial reports
Familiarity with sponsored project management and reporting concepts
The ability to interpret and implement Federal, State, Local, and University guidelines
Knowledge of commonly used financial statements and accounting codes
