Carnegie Mellon University is seeking an innovative financial leader for the high impact role of Assistant Vice President and Treasurer. We are searching for a creative executive to provide strategic and tactical leadership to optimize financial resources and to take the Office of the Treasurer to the next level. This position provides an exciting opportunity for the right person to bring fresh ideas, technological savvy, and industry driven practices to bear on developing a premier treasury operation. The AVP/Treasurer position is highly visible across the institution, and regularly interacts with university leaders including the Board of Trustees.
As Treasurer, you will be a key constituent of the CFO's senior management team, reporting directly to the CFO & Vice President for Finance. The mission of the Treasurer's office is to direct the use of appropriate financing and funding options to meet the university's short- and long-term financial goals, and to enhance CMU's financial resources through effective liquidity and financial risk management.
You will be responsible for four primary functions:
Management of the external and internal debt portfolios
Overseeing the university's debt portfolio
Leading debt offerings
Handling CMU's relationships with investment banks and financial institutions, investor relations, and rating agencies
Providing overall direction of the office and leading a staff of six treasury professionals in charge of day to day cash management
Providing appropriate infrastructure to support merchant services, appropriate controls and information security
Setting the direction for innovative and compliant merchant payment solutions
Retirement program investment oversight
Serving as a member of the retirement investment committee
Developing the agenda for committee with the chair and other leaders

Bachelor's Degree in business administration, accounting or finance required; Master's degree in Finance or accounting or equivalent combination of education and work experience preferred
A minimum of 10 years of progressively responsible work experience in dynamic and high-energy capital markets, treasury management, accounting and/or finance with at least five of those in a senior managerial position within a treasury organization.
Certified Treasury Professional designation (CTP) or other relevant certification preferred.
Consistent track record of negotiating credit arrangements, cash management agreements and other similar treasury services.
Experience and exposure to management reporting audits, regulatory agencies, various accounting systems and finance and economic principles.
Proficiency in cash flow forecasting, financial analysis and modeling skills in coordination with use of investment software.
Strategic or long-range financial planning experience.
