Harvard University South Asia Institute seeks an experienced grant and finance manager to oversee budget development, receipt, spending and reporting on a three-year grant focused on Social Entrepreneurship in India. The position reports to the India Country Director (ICD), Harvard South Asia Institute, and will work with the ICD and others to monitor spending and assure compliance with donor and University grant regulations. The incumbent will be responsible for requesting grant amendments from donor if necessary and communicating rules and guidelines to sub-grant recipients. Key responsibilities include:
Budget development and maintenance for annual grant supporting various faculty projects
Big-picture understanding of the projects, and regular contact with project leads through the ICD to make sure spending is within terms of grant.
Proactive communication with donor organization regarding amendments to original budget as necessary
Understanding of donor reporting requirements and preparation of regularly scheduled financial reports
Understanding of Harvard University and Harvard Global sponsored account requirements, chart of accounts, and financial systems (training will be provided)
Account record maintenance and reconciliation
Must be eligible to work in India.
Salary Grade: 090
Union: 00 - Non Union, Exempt or Temporary
Master's degree and 5 -7 years relevant grant management and accounting experience.
Degree in finance or accounting preferred. Experience within a public or higher education institution preferred. Strong financial skills required with close attention to detail. Verbal and written English language proficiency required. Proven capacity to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines. Ability to present financial data in a format that is helpful to a variety of constituents. Extensive knowledge of local financial practices and Microsoft Excel.
