Brown Universityâ??s Finance Division supports the academic and research mission of the University. It is a fast paced, multi-discipline group of departments which include: Academic Finance and Administration, Accounts Payable, Office of Budget, Planning & Analysis, Office of the Controller, Insurance and Purchasing Services, Office of the Treasurer, and Workday Operations.
This is a project based internship and training will be offered in each of the departments within the Finance Division through a rotational system whereby the intern will spend 6 - 8 weeks in each department. Projects include: tax analysis and form preparation, reconciliations, budget analysis, internal controls analysis and documentation, cash forecasting, strategic sourcing spend analysis and and Request for Proposal (RFP) development.
INTERN WILL LEARN AND BE EXPOSED TO:
Real world knowledge of the Finance Division operations
Project based training through a rotational system within the Finance Division
Ability to participate in on campus training
Intern will attend community events/meetings
Intern will be supervised by various department managers during the rotations and will have one mentor for the length of the internship.
Junior or Senior accounting/finance major preferred, however outstanding sophomore candidates with courses in accounting/finance will also be considered
Must be in good academic standing with a GPA of 3.0 or better.
Must be motivated, organized, and possess good communication skills
Strong analytical skills and experience with Microsoft products
Strong writing skills and flowchart experience is a plus
SCHEDULE and COMPENSATION:
Approximately 12 -15 hours per week during standard business hours
Anticipated length of internship will be from September 2017 through May 2018
$12 per hour
