The Vice President of Common Area Design will be a key member of the Executive team. Reporting to the CEO this role is responsible for creating, developing and managing the Starwood Retail Partners branding and customer experience, delivering initiatives to drive customer attraction, retention and engagement. This position is based in Chicago, IL.
•Create, manage and deliver the Starwood Retail Partners common area environment and consumer experience programs such as soft seating, amenities, and all aesthetic/design-oriented initiatives in all malls throughout the US. •Lead all customer experience initiatives across the US by driving the creative process and schedule for all initiatives, balancing both large development projects as well as individual operational objectives. •Manage the fabrication process for quality, design intent and cost while watching for construction errors and problematic field conditions as they arise to provide solutions which minimize budget and schedule impact. •Create and execute holiday decor and seasonal programs for all centers. •Attend project meetings with marketing, development, design, construction and mall management to develop a consistent and universal SRP brand and consumer experience. •Manage communication with various departments on each project. •Help to manage and support consultants by leading calls and meetings. •Create and update business case decks and financials related to branding and consumer experience initiatives. •Assist in creating processes and tools for centralized management of branding and consumer experience in collaboration with various departments – reporting, budget management and delivery. •Proactively look for ways to maximize budgets through cost-saving initiatives, vendor relationships and best practice sharing. •Conduct regular audits of mall branding and consumer experience programs to ensure high standards in execution, management, content accuracy and value to the consumer.
Financial Management & Administration:
•Brief suppliers and secure cost quotes for key projects. •Maintain accurate budgets and monthly forecasts for assigned projects. •Research landscape seeking new ideas and best practices to incorporate into marketing, branding and consumer experience. Skillset and Requirements: •College degree in Interior Design, Architecture, Environmental Design, Graphic Design or similar is preferred. •History in building consumer experience programs from the ground-up. •Ability to anticipate needs of an active, vibrant space. •Strong organizational skills and ability to effectively manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment. •Strong design skills related to visual, graphic, composition, etc. •Strategic and analytical thinker with strong attention to detail. •Must demonstrate strong verbal and written communication skills along with the ability to speak/present in front of groups. •Excellent people skills and ability to communicate effectively at all levels. •Problem solving and time management ability. •Must be willing to travel.
