The University of Pittsburgh is seeking a Finance Manager who will be responsible for the financial management of a core set of shared research facilities and services within the Dietrich School of Arts and Sciences, including electronics, machine, and glass shop facilities. These facilities include major scientific instrument centers (NMR, Mass Spec, X-Ray, Microscopy, and Materials Characterization), research stockrooms, animal care facilities, and cryogenics storage and distribution.
The incumbent will manage the overall administration of associated unit finances, including purchasing, operating, research, discretionary, and revenue funds. He/she will develop and implement appropriate cost structures for use of the facilities to ensure compliance with all Dietrich School, University, and Federal fiscal guidelines.
The incumbent will establish and implement workflow processes for all associated areas. He/she will reconcile the levels on a monthly basis, make projections, and provide accurate accounting reports to the Director of Shared Research Support Services and key personnel within each facility. He/she will provide purchasing support for major scientific instruments and handle all professional services agreements and contracts. The incumbent will also provide technical guidance and training for managing non-research accounts in the IT Works system to users across the Dietrich School.
Requirements: Demonstrates financial management and accounting skills, strong knowledge of federal financial regulations associated with sponsored research, and familiarity with IT Works are important. Must have strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work effectively with a wide range of individuals and constituencies in a diverse community as well as being able to manage multiple tasks simultaneously and respond quickly to changing priorities.
A minimum of a Baccalaureate degree is required with 5-6 years of experience in increasingly more complex financial roles.
